LOL. OK buddy. Iowa in '85 could go 10-1/7-1 in the regular season and get a Rose Bowl bid, and Iowa in '15 could go 12-0/8-0 in the regular season and not get a Rose Bowl bid, but there's no structural difference to account for in comparing eras. Indeed.

Here's another one for you: In 2002, Iowa went 10-2/8-0. Tied with Ohio State for the Big Ten championship. Ohio State went to the Fiesta Bowl, which was the BCS title game. Iowa went to ... the Orange Bowl? Yep, so Washington State could play Oklahoma.

I guess you would count that as something Ferentz's 8-0 team didn't do that a couple of Fry's 6-2 teams did do.

The Big Ten was also very different during Fry's apex in Iowa City.

Ohio State and Michigan were very good, not a juggernaut, and the conference was also in a down stretch, nationally. Penn State (which was almost always good for 9 wins in an 11 win season) wasn't in the conference yet.

Wisconsin was a doormat, Michigan State was usually 6-5 or 7-4. Northwestern was 1-10 every year. Now they're consistently much better.

That bring said, the Big Ten is deeper now but only in the East. Ferentz should be in the top 2 or 3 every year in the West.

Fry's Big Ten was easier back then to win but Ferentz's is easier to win the West Division. It's complicated I admit.

I couldn't even finish typing a Syracuse attendance joke before Louisville scored a touchdown.

Holy fuck. Louisville has run five plays on offense and just scored its third touchdown.

Hope the fans smuggled in some alcohol...Louisville smashing Syracuse 21-0 with 10:17 left in the first. Quarter, that is.

Syracuse used to be at least George Chuvalo good. You were going to win, but you had to work hard for it. What happened?

Straight parlay would've worked out well, too.
