Western Michigan-Penn State would be interesting.

It ended up the same way for the mighty Idaho Vandals, who finished 8-4 in the mighty Sun Belt Conference.

In fact, every time Idaho's been bowl-eligible (three times), it's been sent to whatever they're calling the bowl game on Boise State's field.

That's a clue from the football powers-that-be: "You belong at the FCS level"

Like with the Poin Files, I think six is the sweet spot.

Sorry, I was speaking from the perspective of Bama's, Clemson's, Ohio State's and Washington's coach.

Well, that and the 38-0 start.

I say that all the time, but it does appear there are a great many folks to whom it doesn't matter. Duke-UNC hoops is treated like Armageddon, even though everyone knows they'll play again in three weeks, and then likely again in the ACC tournament, and possibly even again in the Big Dance.

But I want no part of college football rematches. Evah.

Of course. But the SEC was dogshit, and they nearly lost a bunch of games in the regular season in the league. From early on, that UCLA drubbing put people on alert.

Good thing Idaho is headed back down to the FCS in 2018.

The discussion here on how an expanded playoff would shake out should note that the committee would almost certainly rank teams differently based on making up first round matchups. An Ohio State-Michigan rematch probably wouldn't take place until the semi finals or finals of an 8 or 16 team playoff because they'd be seeded differently.

I said from jump street that 8 is the magic number.
5 auto qualifiers (Big 12, ACC, SEC, PAC 12, BIG 10)
    3 at large bids.

    It's really not that difficult.

The three at-larges this year would be Michigan, Ohio State and who? Colorado? USC? Fla. State?
PS: I agree eight is the best number for both workability and justice.
