He was divorced from any semblance of reality long, long ago.

that's why you have to be an active member for 10 years before you get to vote -- and it's bbwaa

Faye Dunaway's character had self awareness, Cowherd lacks that ability.

When you got guys like Woody Paige writing in his column that Goose Gossage was always nice to him and I'd vote him into the HOF even if he wasn't worthy, it gives guys like Colin Cowherd great ammo to fire with.

Cowherd shouldn't accuse all BBWAA members of doing it. But some do, yes. The same ones that voted Mo Vaughn MVP in 1995.

Maybe, but that doesn't mean Cowherd knows what he's talking about. And Gary Carter belongs in the Hall of Fame. He was a top-level catcher in the National League for a bunch of years. Carter is an example of how somebody looked better once people didn't match what he did.

No. 1 Cowherd is funny. Laugh out loud funny. He might not talk about sports every second of his show and he is self-centered and self-depricating at the same time. If you don't get that, you don't know what funny is.
No. 2 He has a point about the HOF. Especially in Gossage's case. What makes him a Hall of Famer now as opposed to five years ago? He didn't get any better. He just got lucky enough to be on a ballot in which no other likable candidates were eligible for a vote. And it screws guys like Jim Rice and Tim Raines and Jack Morris. Next year when Rickey Henderson is on the ballot and should get 100 percent of the vote, Rice and Raines and Morris will get left out in the cold.
But Henderson won't get 100 percent of the vote, even though he changed the game, was the most dominant lead-off hitter in baseball for 15, 20 years, perhaps ever.
Bottom line is Cowherd is funny, the BBWA gets it wrong almost every year and the Hall of Fame loses more credibility every year.
And I do believe that was my longest post ever.

  10. Humor is a matter of individual taste, obviously.
However, Cowherd is as funny as the mange.

  11. And hopefully the last.

Just because you smashed that hanger, don't start thinking you're ready for the Hall.
