Coast Guard Academy women's basketball coach found dead in his car

    I just noticed this on The Day's Web site. Never heard of the guy before. Don't know much about him, but it sounds very strange.

    I covered Coast Guard athletics for 10 years and knew Alex well. Found him to be funny and always easy to talk to for a story. As the story said, he was a Hall of Famer there and really lived and breathed the CGA, along with the likes of Pete Barry, Ray Cieplik, et al.

    Terrible news...and quite honestly, I'm really, really, really hoping this was from natural causes.

    Never knew him, but I was stationed across the river from the CGA for four years and spent lots of time on the Coastie base. Very sad. RIP.
