    Columbo....driving 15 mph over the speed limit and attempting to climb a mountain aren't even close on the danger scale.

    You're right though...people often don't grasp the dangerousness of a situation until its too late. These guys travelled from Texas.....they had ample time to think about what they were getting themselves into, they had to know December on Mt.Hood would be extremely dangerous....but this was the time they chose. I'm willing to bet they definitely understood how dangerous it would be, and that was the attraction.
