Just a thought on the idea that fighting back against a bully and getting your ass kicked stops the bullying, buys you respect, etc. --- this is Hollywood bullshit.
In real life, at least as I experienced it many years ago as a 12-year-old, fighting back helps you keep some self-respect, but a sadist remains a sadist. Quite possibly, you piss him or his group off even more by fighting back, and make yourself a particular target, instead of just one of a group of younger, weaker kids to be subjugated.
You don't see that reality reflected much in movies or on sitcoms, though.

 

Older siblings with criminal records and/or reputations for violence are best for dealing with bullies.

Yeah, I always wondered how Sheriff Andy Taylor would have liked it if, after telling Opie to go at the milk-money bully like a wildcat in a hurricane or whatever the hell that cornpone-term was, Opie showed up at the courthouse with teeth missing, his eye dangling down his cheek rather than nicely blackened and an ear that no longer worked.

Doubt Andy would have tousled Opie's hair and given him an attaboy!

 

As the oldest of 5 siblings, that was me.



I got smacked around a few times by bullies as a kid. The younger Star-Sibs got smacked around about Once Each.

 

And thus the genesis of Starman Justice.

 

I would like to watch you try and get yer ass kicked for your trouble.
