Chris Ballard in this week's SI

    I've thought this several times over the past year or more. Ballard's efforts have been consistently good. And this is no exception. I also hoped while reading it that this story has a happy ending.

    It was a nice piece of work by Ballard and I was fearful of the bad ending so it was nice that it didn't go that way.
    I'd like to see a followup, not a column, just a note up front to see how many miles had been added in since the Ballard column first ran.
    That would be kind of cool because it could be tons and tons. Runners are funny like that.
    Of course the suckage is going to come if something does go to shit in Iraq for the kid and another column is written.

    It makes you realize how little SI misses Rick Reilly.

    Although, I'm sure Reilly doesn't miss SI either.
