Ace, I'm getting pretty fucking sick of your fawning ocean worship.

The Germans had the Vichy government. That helped a lot.

Yup. And you still can't make a very convincing argument for the French having fought valiantly. They were a bit more of a world power than Poland. I think the Nazis invaded in May, and the French surrendered in June.

More from Mr. Angry, which in French, I think, means Mr. Douche.

I cannot believe it took that long for that post.

Somehow the tongue-in-cheek font got left off my post.

C'mon - I pulled up a poindexter quote fawning over a French girl - nobody was entertained by that?

Although, everytime I see the Statue of Liberty, I do get kind of annoyed at the France-bashing by the "flag-wavers" in this country.

Now, the lymphoma thing bothered me. There was no tongue-in-cheek font there.

France was decimated in WW1. They lost a huge percentage of their young men. That had a huge impact on their outlook when the shit hit the fan in WW2.

In WW1 almost 1.5 million French soldiers were killed and over 4 million wounded. Add those two figures together and you get an astonishing 75% of the troops mobilized either killed or wounded.

To put it in perspective, British casualties were around 44%, Canadian around 39% and American, about 8%.

So try and keep the smugness down, folks.

Aww, come on JR. Go to Paris and ask someone, "Do you speak English?" and you'll see what smugness really looks like.
