Chicago, Madrid, Tokyo and Rio Named Finalists for 2016 Summer Olympics

  1. I don't think winter in Rio is the same as, say, winter in Denver. I don't know the average high and low temps for July or August in Rio, but it's probably not bad. In fact, it might be better (as in not as oppressively hot) then than in September or October.

The week-plus I was in Rio last year (late July), high temps were in the low- to mid-60s and overcast for most of the time. Sun barely came out ... and when it did, it was only for a brief time since it was dark by 4-5 p.m.

Don't forget how LA traffic fears went out the window once the Games started.

  4. And on its worst traffic day, Chicago can't hold a candle to a typical day in SoCal.
