From the Pipeline: Raleigh and Charlotte jointly announced Friday that they were scrapping plans for a regional copy desk that would have been based in Charlotte (and also would have handled Columbia State and Rock Hill copy). Instead, Raleigh and Charlotte will broaden copy editing and design sharing between the two newsroom staffs, appointing a Director of Newsroom Production to oversee both shops. The sharing has been going on in Sports, Features and state government coverage for the past year.

Good news especially for Raleigh, because of the approximately 30 deskers who would have been affected, only one person had expressed an interest in relocating to the Queen City.
