Truer words have never been written in these forums - poker players are the cheapest motherfuckers on the planet about everything except for how much money they are willing to lose.

My favorite story is the one day I was playing at our local casino here in Pittsburgh and a guy wanted to order some food - now, mind you we were playing 2-5 no-limit and he had every bit of about $1200 in front of him but he had only had say, $10, built up on his players card (you get like .80 per hour you play) and the stuff he wanted cost, say $12. He refused to order it and then called the floor over to see if he could the necessary extra dollars added in order to purchase his food for free. It was literally like $3 or something and they finally make it happen for him -- he gets his food and shit and hands the waitress a $1 chip for a tip.

I was embarrassed for him.

As someone who used to deal blackjack and a couple other games at a casino I have witnessed and worse.
There's no more depressing place in the world then at a $5 blackjack table at 3 a.m. on a Monday.

Bad beats suck. I'd want to know if I could sit down at the table without their stupid card and then not have to feed the pot that I'll never win.

I have cashed outside chips before -- up to the $25 or maybe $100 level -- even at casinos that aren't affiliated with each other. But you aren't going to do that with a $10,000 chip. Cash out anything more than about $1,000 and they're going to ask you what table you came from.

This is SOP for casinos, setting up little techicalities for losing big payoffs (didn't have the right players card, had your cards behind the edge of the table, peeked at someone else's cards, was too far away from the machine while celebrating a jackpot win). You don't build a billion-dollar edifice on bricks of stupidity. And people will forget the casino's picayunishness soon enough.
