Captain Underpants ruined Halloween

AP stories that came over the ticker tonight, one of them funny, the other one just sad.

The funny first:

LONG BEACH, N.Y. (AP) _ Call it the Misadventure of Captain Underpants and the Peeved Principal.
A suburban Long Island high school has banned all Halloween costumes after three senior girls showed up last year dressed as the underwear-baring subject of a series of best-selling children's books.
Long Beach High School Principal Nicholas Restivo, who sent the three seniors home to change last year, said the episode solidified his sense that the school's costume tradition was disruptive.
For the Captain Underpants costumes, the three girls donned beige leotards and nude stockings under white briefs and red capes to portray the superhero, who has battled such foes as talking toilets. To Restivo, the appearance was that the girls were naked.
"I'm being a principal. I'm not being an ogre," Restivo said.
He added that some gory costumes could make some students uncomfortable.
Some students don't see it that way. They are circulating a petition opposing the costume crackdown.
"It's one thing if the school won't let us wear outfits that are revealing or inappropriate, but if it is an innocent Halloween costume, we should be allowed to wear it," said junior Meghan Beck.

The second one, which is gross, and definitely not the way I want to go out ...

NORWALK, Conn. (AP) — State police are investigating a grisly accident that killed a truck driver and left his body parts scattered along a 15-mile stretch of Interstate 95 from Norwalk to Stratford.
Troopers say the driver was struck by several vehicles after he was ejected from his box truck when it overturned between exits 16 and 17 on the northbound side of the highway in Norwalk shortly after 6:30 a.m. Saturday.
Police say body parts were found as far away as exit 33 in Stratford.
Troopers shut down sections of the highway in Norwalk and Stratford for several hours to investigate, causing traffic backups that stretched for miles.
The driver has not been identified. Omega Transport Company of Pine Brook owns the truck.

I think the first one is harmless. Then again, it would be more than a pleasure to walk anywhere and see a trio of girls in skin-colored clothing, especially if it's incredibly tight.

The second is my worst nightmare. Everytime I hit something, no matter how small, I always worry that it will get stuck in my undercarriage and skid along with me. The last thing I need is to pull out my scraper, yank it out and see it being an arm. That just gave me shivers.

OK. But you understand anyone opening a thread with that title would expect BOTH STORIES to be related to it somehow. It would be like titling a thread "God likes kittens" then posting pictures of beheaded children.

Kind of incongruous, and startling.

Captain Underpants' alter ego actually is a principal, so maybe this principal just feels like they are stepping on his brushed-cotton turf.

And to the trio in tighty whities: You go, girls. Waistband warriors unite!

I read the story last night and wondered how many kids at this school are walking around with their pants around their ankles, ala gangster-esque, showing off their boxers or the booty or whatever is cool looking these days, every day.
