Canada is actually a pretty nice place

I don't know if my opinion is affected by the fact that I was in Buffalo (a real shithole) for two weeks, but Canada is actually pretty nice. I drove over there a couple times and instantly the roads were better, things were cleaner, people were nicer. Plus, I won $400 in the very nice Fallsview casino. Maybe I'll move there.

Good place, good people. Toronto is a nice enough city.

But don't go to Hamilton too often. It smells weird there.

Did you go to the Sundowner?
That place beats a casino any day of the week.

Not doubting that Canuckistan was nice, but the Buffalo-shithole part did probably skew your perspective a bit. I remember returning from a week in downtown Buffalo and having a similar realization that my home city looked a helluva lot cleaner and nicer than I remembered it now that I had Buffalo as a new reference point.

Perhaps our two filthiest shithole major cities, Detroit and Buffalo, just happen to be on the Canadian border. Makes for an embarrassing contrast when you cross the bridge.

  7. Can't agree with you more, except for the part about moving there. Been to Buffalo many times and I love going across the border to the Falls area. And Toronto ... ummm. Lots of beautiful women in that lovely city.

GREAT strip clubs just across the border from Buffalo by the way.

Can't speak for Toronto, but just came back from 4 days in Montreal. Awesome city, tons to do, and very little crime. My question is, why can't more American cities be like that? Metro Montreal has 3-million people and its safe. Can you imagine walking through Chicago at three in the morning? Detroit? Baltimore? Hell, there are even neighborhoods in small cities you can't go into after dark.

I rode with my father (a truck driver) to Canada once. I was young and don't remember.

Never been to Montreal, but the only problem I have with this post is what American cities you throw out. I have walked around New York, Seattle and Phoenix at 3 a.m. and never had a problem.
Hell, I walked around Hoboken at 2 a.m. and didn't have a problem, and Hoboken mildly scared me in the middle of the day.

People in Mexico probably say the same thing about Tijuana and Juarez.
