Can anyone convince me that the 1970s were not the greatest decade for music?

No, but I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain.

Bridge Over Troubled Water release date --- Jan. 26, 1970.

The settles it. 70s are tops.

If you wanna get to heaven, you better get your one-hit wonders straight.

  5. The 70's were great. I remember seeing the Alman Brothers in Atlanta with Beth Howland back in 1975. We were absolutely trashed. Half way through the concert Beth throws up in the chair in front of us. I remember just staring at the puke and not hearing a word from the guy in front of us. Her puke had these whole kernels of corn and I couldn't remember her eating any corn during dinner - we had ribs but no corn. I swear there was no corn.

After she puked we ducked out of the concert. I picked up a jug of Gallo and we went to a park where we just chilled on a swing set. Next thing I know she starts making out with me. I was torn between being a horn dog and being repulsed by her puking less than an hour earlier. Anyway - I have my tongue firmly planted in her mouth when I swear my tongue hits something that had to be a fucking kernel of corn. That did it - I gagged and puked right there. Any magic between us was completely out the window.

The next year she hits it pretty big playing the ditsy waitress Vera on the show Alice.

I still can't hear the Alman Brothers without picturing corn chunks.

YGBFKM is obviously talking about ABBA.

So when you meet a famous person you can hold out until the corn reflux?

    Cool story.

James Taylor and Carole King merit a mention as well, as does The Band and the Eagles. And Born to Run and Darkness on the Edge of Town were 1970s albums.

And the Lamont Cranston Band, of course.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say anyone who hit 13 during the 1970s will agree.

I was nowhere near 13 in the 70s; I just know good music.

Us progressive rock fans (Renaissance, Yes, Genesis) will also agree with you that the 70s ruled.
