    I read that, and, once again, the thing that bothers me most -- even as many times as we may see it -- is the admitted targeting of only people of a certain, specific age.

    It's one thing for us, or anybody, to speculate about/discuss who gets cut, and for what reasons we think it is happening, or may happen.

    It's quite another thing to know, for sure -- and beforehand -- that you are the target, for a reason that has nothing to do with performance or merit, that cannot possibly be helped, changed or negotiated, and that everyone will reach at some point, someday.

    It's like turning everyone's career into something akin to Logan's Run. It's also wrong.

    And no, I'm not 50...yet.

    See, I might simply be stupid or naive, but I still think somebody in the right circumstance is going to sue for age discrimination even in the midst of all this and maybe win.

    Just because times are horrible doesn't mean, I don't think, that they can simply lop off all of their oldest workers to start. But I might be wrong.
