You do not want to get cross-wise with Les Zaitz. I doubt there is another small-operation that does more and better investigatory journalism than his people. He was all over the Bundy bird sanctuary takeover and he knows which rocks to kick over.

The Malheur hayseeds picked the wrong guy to fight in Les Zaitz. He'll have them for breakfast, and save the scraps for lunch.

This story made me LOL. I'm interested to see how this plays out.

Answer: "Hey, Mabel. Les Zaitz of The Oregonian wants to speak with you."

Question: What did every public official in Oregon fear that he or she would hear one day?

I'm sure every newspaper has this type of line, but with Zaitz, it was very well-earned.

I imagine Les has to explain to most of the officials he comes across what FOIA stands for.

Similar to the “Mike Wallace is here to see you” joke.

Is Malheur hard to pronounce? I only ask because while the entire situation was news I never heard one announcer say it.
