I'm getting bits and pieces on the local news where I'm staying. Said it collapsed, and there are reports of people trapped inside. Said Larry King was in a nearby hotel and heard the explosion.

If you turn on CNN, they are interviewing King.

Does Larry King live in a hotel? Or was he meeting his sixth wife on the DL?

Wow -- I had my car from the weekend and drove down 61st Street and Madison this morning. Mrs. W. was taking a cab to work a few minutes ago and says that traffic is a nightmare.

I assume that King is staying at the Regency, home of power breakfasts and where Larry David stayed for his run in The Producers.

Not uncommon for a gas-line explosion to level a building.

4-story building housing 2 doctors offices and a duplex in which one of the doctors lived. Neither office was open yet. No one is certain if the doctor who lioves in the building was inside or not.

Early reports (WCBS and WINS radio) are neighbors smelled gas earlier this morning and some unconfirmed reports that there was a gas smell/leak reported to Con Ed last week.
