    The Bristol Herald Courier, a 41,000-circulation daily situated on the Tennessee-Virginia line, is looking for a hard-working, motivated sports writer to help cover one of the busiest sports areas in the Southeast. The successful candidate will help us provide in-depth coverage of prep sports involving more than 40 high schools in Southwest Virginia and Northeast Tennessee, as well as local college sports including East Tennessee State University. The Bristol Herald Courier also covers the University of Tennessee and Virginia Tech, local auto racing and NASCAR racing at the most popular speedway in stock-car racing, Bristol Motor Speedway.     Hmmm ... I see they're backing off a request for writer/desker. Interesting.

    Still, for all you youngsters out there, apply. It's a good mid-sized daily. And it has the coveted Doc Seal of Approval.

    Also, 'beetus, it's the Herald Courier, not Heral. ;)

    Would it be a problem if the candidate has little knowledge of NASCAR and other stock-car racing events?

    That would be awfully quick, IMO. The person I knew who worked there took about a month from intial contact to start date. They also pay moving expenses, FWIW.

    Do they pay interview expenses? Is that even the norm anymore?

    Someone said above they paid moving expenses so I'd hope they'd pay interview expenses. Of course that's assuming they'd bring in just a couple candidates.
