Solid I hire, I guess, in a division that includes Dusty Baker, Tony La Russa and Lou Pinella.

The first thing that entered my mind was that Snickers Feast commercial where the Viking blows his feast horn in a real pathetic way.

Not overwhelmed at all, but at least it's not Willie Randolph. None of the finalists exactly bowled me over.

But will he have the Brewers back in the playoffs by 2034?

What are the Royals at now? Twenty-three years since they were in? I predict they pass the Brewers' 26-year drought, soothsaying that leaves me somewhat short of Nostradamus territory. :D

    Fits right in.

    Willie, grab some bench.

If Ken Macha was a super hero - he'd be Apache Chief.

Another manager who couldn't be picked out of a lineup. I liked Macha when he was with the A's, but I think we're in an era where the GM is focal point of an organization and the managers (largely) are treated like hockey coaches.

I find the fact he got only a two-year deal interesting.

Isn't the norm for new baseball hires at least three years, with an option?

    Just curious.

Jason Kendall is going to be very unhappy.

Supposedly Macha called Kendall after he heard Kendall's comments about their time together in Oakland to clear the air.

We'll see if it actually worked...

And if it doesn't, they'll go get some other .250-hitting catcher with no power ...
