Went to see it tonight. Not quite sure what I was expecting, but I was rather disappointed. It's certainly not one of the best movies of the year.

Very formulaic in the vein of a lot of "blockbusters" ... take a big event, surround it with as many soap-opera storylines as you can. You had your pathos ... you had your comedy ... you had your heart-tuggers.

Great cast? Sure. But I'm fairly sure nobody stepped up with Oscar-level performances ... although I didn't know Sharon Stone was one of the characters until the credits after the movie. She sold her role pretty well.

The Las Vegas Weekly review I just read shredded this - made it sound like one of the worst wastes of talent in quite a while. Before I read that, I had actually had some interest, but it must be pretty bad for the guy to be as pissed off as he was about it.

I'm going to see it Wednesday. It's got Elijah Wood in it. I see everything that has Elijah in it, plus it was the only thing my date and I could agree on.

Every review I've read says that the actors did a good job with what they were given, but that Emilio Estevez (the director/writer) was trying to do something he's not capable of. I now have significantly lowed expectations.

Hey, at least Emilio gave himself his first speaking role of the decade...

It's gotta be better than Mighty Ducks 3.

The reviews have been all over the place on this...some Oscar buzz and some, as Rufino noted, that make it sound like complete garbage. I think our TigerVols said it was pretty bad.

I'm interested in seeing it, if only because Estevez has been MIA for so long and he does have a helluva cast at his disposal (well, except for Asshton Kutcher).

And in related news, it's freaky how much he looks like his dad.

Think a feature-length episode of "The Love Boat," without all happy endings.

I knew this was going to suck after reading about what Estevez went through to get it made.
I saw Estevez and I think his brother in a movie about San Francisco pornographers the Mitchell brothers.
Does anybody recall that? Was the an HBO movie?

It was on a list of mine for a date tomorrow night but we've settled on Stranger Than Fiction. Sounds like I've made the right choice.

It was called "Rated X," and it was a cable movie, but I can't say for sure which one. Yeah, Charlie did it with Emilio.

I know I've seen it, and I enjoyed it because it was a topic about which I knew almost nothing.
However, now I don't recall much about the movie.

It was originally on Showtime. If you thought the movie was good, you should read the book Rated X that the movie was based on. Much, much better. I thought the movie blew goats.
