Strange thing: Having heard nothing about Barker's retirement, I grabbed a blue T-shirt Tuesday morning, donned a sweater over the top of of it and headed to work.
The funny thing is, the blue T-shirt had been a gag gift several years ago and once sported a cheap decal on it that had a picture of Barker with the word 'Pimp Serial Killer.' The decal has long since come off in the wash.
    Spooky, huh?

You're going to be hard pressed to find a bigger Price is Right junky than me on this board.

IJAG, I think the odds of Todd Newton ruining TPIR are slim. He hosts one of those casino versions in Atlantic City, and I remember reading a few months back that the producers weren't exactly overwhelmed, hence why they are still looking around. Of course, Newton did do the voice work for the DVD game that came out last year, so you never know...

My vote for toughest game to win is "That's Too Much." Really easy concept, but nobody ever stops at the right time. There used to be a Web site somewhere online listing the winning percentages for every game, and I'm pretty sure this was the worst, or at least close to it.

Speaking of TPIR web sites, check this out: http://www.golden-road.net/modules/news/

It's a blog with daily BOX SCORES for the shows. You know, if our entertainment section had an agate page...

Holly was, by far, the best of Barker's Beauties.

Haven't seen her lately, but I'm sure she's a MILF.

I hope there's never a day when, called upon in a group to guess a number, I can't shout out ONE DOLLAR! ONE DOLLAR! and have somebody get the reference.

Have you guys ever heard Triumph (the Insult Comic Dog)'s song, Bob Barker? It's with Jack Black, off the "Come Poop With Me" CD. Great find if you can find it online. Basically an angry Triumph threatening to neuter Barker with his teeth. If I may quote: "You want your jimmy back? You'll have to sift through my stool."

Double J, I believe you're thinking of Line 'Em Up. Contestants are given the first number and last number in the car. Then there are three prizes from which they must get the three middle numbers.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I never got the love for Plinko. They're dropping pucks down a board. I just don't get the excitement there. I don't hate the game or anything -- I mean, it is, after all, part of the greatest TV gameshow on earth -- but it's never been a favorite.

Anybody remember the Phone Home game? Played that one during the mid-80s. Didn't last too long. Contestant on stage got to call someone at home. Can't remember all the particulars and probably wouldn't remember it at all had it not been for the phone-a-friend deal on Millionaire.

Loved Switcheroo, The Range Game, the Shell Game, The Grand Game and Lucky Sevens.

But the all the time greatest, the one that leaves everyone -- even people at home --screaming at the moron contestant is The Race Game. The people always try to get help from the audience and waste eight or nine seconds doing so. Then they get confused and start putting prices where they were to beging with. The slipping and falling and sheer panic ... damn, it's great.

Now that Barker has announced his decision, who's up for driving to Los Angeles and trying to get on the show before he bails (I heard he's there until June 2007).

If I could end up on that show, it would be the crowning achievement of my life. Seriously.

You know, I honestly thought of Temptation but convinced myself that wasn't it. Duh.

The last digit wasn't a crapshoot. It may be now, but back in the day you could bank on the last number being a 0 or a 5. In every game.

"E! True Hollywood Story" did a piece on TPIR about 3-4 years ago.

And Holly was, as expected, beautiful.

The guy who created that site will be armed and in a clock tower someday. Bank on it.
