    I'm curious about those who do write blogs for your newspaper. I think I have a pretty good idea of the answers I'm about to ask, but hey, you never know, right?
    Do you get paid any extra to supplement your beat with a blog?
    Are you encouraged to break news with your blog?
    Have you been informed of the traffic your blog gets?
    Do you use your blog as a vehicle more for your opinion or for fetching story ideas?

    There's a difference between not doing it for free and "make a living" at it.

    2. no, not by anyone associated with management -- but i sure as hell push myself to do so and have done it quite a bit
