    I would assume we'd be favored to medal in all those new sports, with the exception of karate.

    I know this is not the first time it's happened, but isn't it a little silly to have games before the opening ceremony?

    It's always been that way for soccer, at least since the first one I covered in Barcelona. Too many games.

    At at the U.S.-New Zealand soccer game, it looked like the refs had bullet-proof vests on under their ref jerseys.
