    From KGW:

"A lot of people were buzzing about all the helicopters jumping from skyscraper to skyscraper Monday Night.

The Portland Police Bureau said the helicopters were part of a training mission with the Department of Defense.

Not to worry though, Portland Police said it was all part of a training mission in conjunction with the Department of Defense.

Details beyond that were not available."

Not to worry? What the hell is the Department of Defense even doing in Oregon, which has ZERO military bases. There were no reports that an African American man was seen hanging from a balcony in his underwear.

i think I'm more interested in one of those breaking news stories than the other ... though god help me I don't know why.

Hmm, so those of us in the Northwest should be concerned? Is that what you're saying?

In my neck of the PNW, folks in black helicopters would probably be shot out of the sky or fall out -because they got high on second-hand smoke.

no worries. I've seen it. and for me, hard to get a reference to a movie that's 10 years old set in d.c. and filmed in baltimore when discussing portland. ;)

The whole chase of Smith in the movie was said to be "a training exercise" to avoid disturbing the public.
I'm not saying there is anything to this, but I do find it odd since in the past these types of training exercises are publicized in advance to avoid alarming the public.
