I don't care if anyone is in or out or whatever - if anything, I think Cooper doesn't want to be one of those newspeople who have their personal lives become tabloid fodder.
You don't hear much about Brian Williams or Scott Pelley, I respect that.

 

I've always associated the term "in the closet" with someone who was specifically hiding their sexual orientation. Cooper's not definitely pretending to be straight. He's not a gay spokesman, but he's not obligated to be, and he doesn't run away from the label when Out or another mag apply it to him.

 

Anderson Cooper may be the biggest Kathy Griffin fan alive. He loves her and has said as much.

It's interesting... On the cover on EW this week they have an article on how more and more actors are coming out and how lately it's been done in more discreet ways, like mentioned in the last line of a profile (Jim Parsons, Zachary Quinto) or when someone thanks a partner after winning an award (Matt Bomer).
