This is like Mike Myers playing one shift for a Leafs in a pre-season game. Pathetic.

Rumor has it was Captain Fantastic who served as the go-between from Crystal to Hank to get this thing done.
Too bad the captain never stands up for his real teammates like that.

Let me ask a dumb question...

Garth Brooks has done this before. So has Harry Connick Jr. and Charlie Sheen and I'm sure countless others have as well...

Is the only reason this is getting so much pub because it's the Yankees?

Those you named are at least borderline-athletic.

Garth Brooks got a ton of pub in 2000 when he did this with the Mets. He even won best rookie in spring training.

The truly sick thing is he probably WAS the best rookie there.

Charlie Sheen, for one, was a stud HS ballplayer and hit one out during spring BP.

They show the clip on his episode of Inside the Actor's Studio.

Worked pretty well, too. It made the national ABC news last night and it's been all over the sports pages. Too bad it wasn't a day earlier. He could have gotten trampled in a melee with the Rays.

I just have this feeling that if he did this with the Royals, it would barely make APs notebook...

If he did it with the Royals, he might make the team.

And that, my friend, would probably get some ink.

News flash: The Yankees are a popular team.

I guess the Yankees can get away with a cute little stunt like this given the number of World Series they've won over the past decade.

    Oh, wait.
