Anyone who wants to have him on radio has obviously never heard him speak - he's got a voice made for print, and a personality made for a head shot.

Maybe it's the pro wrestling nerd in me, but maybe this ESPN-Simmons drama is fake, a work to make people think he's walking a fine line with the Leader so it gives him some sort of Stern-esque edge. Will Bill Simmons push the envelope too far this time? He's back? Oooh, gotta read him now, you never know when he'll go loose cannon on us!

Unlikely, but he's a pro wrestling nerd too, so y'never know.

More likely is that since ESPN is starting to cut like everything else, the prima donna bullshit is coming home to roost.

If you're into having your ego placated, it's a bad time to be alive.

  5. There is no way he's smart enough for this to be a riff.
It's the natural outgrowth of the chip he's had on his shoulders since The Man kept him down in Boston.

This sets up the rest of the season quite nicely.

Simmons is going to wind up with a radio show when it is all said and done. Put him on satellite radio, give him some freedom and let him talk about whatever. He'd do quite well in that role.

Especially when Simmons has probably made enough money in his career to ride out this recession. It's not like he's living in BFE raking in $22,000 a year.

Tell that to your kid when they switch homerooms in a month because his or her teacher won't have a job anymore.

I don't know where you live, but in Virginia, they are very, very depressing.

Every middle school in my county will lose a guidance counselor next year.

Indoor track? Step teams? Dance teams? Bye bye.

    And that's just the appetizer.
