Some teams, ahem Atlanta Falcons, never learn do they?

Falcons reportedly interested in interviewing Pete Carroll for their head coaching gig and complete control of player personnel.

Why do they think Carroll will work when Petrino failed so badly?
They must be impressed with his 33-31 NFL record. That's 2 more wins than losses baby!

So ugh, there's a thread on the journalism thread...and even I did a search of "Pete Carroll and Atlanta Falcons" http://www.sportsjournalists.com/forum/threads/51485/

It's all that damn Ken Lay's fault.

Yeah, Lay's a slimy bastard, even if he is dead.

Seriously, isn't this more of a news and sports thread than journalism, though?

Of course not. They're the Atlanta Falcons!

I don't know if this was brought up or not, but before Pete considers an offer from Blank, Pete hasn't coached in the NFL for a decade. Today's players are different than those playing in 1998, and they don't give a shit if you had coached in the NFL. They only know you because you coach a college team.

I thought about pointing out the d_b, but the thread on JTO is more to make fun of the writer's wrong use of pique/peak.

No way in hell is coaching the Falcons a better gig than coaching USC. No way in hell.

Seriously ... how many NFL jobs are actually better gigs than Southern Cal is right now? I'm thinking it's a very short list, if there's anything even on that list.

Hmm ... from "You May Be Right" to "Keeping The Faith." Couldn't we have stayed with Glass Houses ... say, "All For Leyna"?

    :D

This would be an absolutely idiotic move for Carroll.

However, it would be interesting to see who, at this late date, would be considered to replace Carroll at USC. I can't think of anyone decent off the top of my head.

As always, Chris Petersen. He might leave for that job.
