Is Syracuse an option? Does it still have a strong NYC presence?

Hell, we have NAFTA, bring U of Toronto in.

If Missouri were the team, who would take its place in the (original) Big 12? Colorado State? New Mexico? Boise State? TCU?

And who else thinks it's funny that the Big 10 might finally expand to 12 because of a digital cable channel?

Just for shiggles, they ought to add Cincinnati.

Would the Enquirer then blow off Big 10 media day? ::)

That might be true in football, but the Big East is better than the Big 11 in basketball.

At this point, they may be better off creating their own school and adding it.

Not that it'll ever, ever happen ... but Arkansas is a far better fit for the B12 than the SEC.

    Reading comprehension.
    Read the article.
There is zero chance it's Pitt or WVU.
    Zero.

The Big Ten will never, never, never change its name. Pepsi, Coke and Budweiser ain't changing either. Hell, the Atlantic 10 has, I think, 14 teams, and even that Mickey Mouse circuit isn't giving away its brand.

What Micro said ... it's ND or nobody, which means its nobody. No other school even comes close to fitting the athletic/academic profile. I suppose Iowa State would come, but what's in it for the Big Ten? Are they that desperate to add a title game?

As for who would go to the Big 12 were it to happen, go ahead and cross Boise State off any list. It's academic side has kept the Mountain West (!) from having any interest ... and they have nine flipping teams, and BSU seems a natural fit.

The Big 12 presidents will hold their next meeting at a whorehouse before even talking about admitting Boise State. The logical fit there would be Colorado State, which would also be a new Big 12 member were the mythical Pac-10 expansion to occur ... which , of course, ain't happening, either.

    The quote from Jim Delany:

Which would knock out Notre Dame (Indiana), Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania already represented by Penn State) and Iowa State (Iowa).

Lantaur gets 800 on the verbal portion of the SAT.
Can't vouch for your math skills, though.

According to the most recent US News & World Report rankings, Northwestern is No. 14 among national public universities. Notre Dame is 20th. Insignificant difference, even if the rankings are not perfect.

I realize it's not a land-grant universityl, like many in the Big 10. Nor is it the flagship university of its state, like Iowa or Michigan, or a research-based school, like the 10 public schools.

    And I can't stand ND.

But if you're going to add a 12th school - and if it's not Colorado, which perfectly fits the profile if the Big 10 wants a school not in its current 8-state region - then ND is the best overall fit athletically, academically, geographically, and for TV.

Look, I can't stand ND. But none of the other schools mentioned - Rutgers, Pitt, Mizzou, Syracuse - would add the fan base, both pro and con, and national punch of the Irish.

Plus, they're generally pretty damn good in a lot of other sports, too, like baseball, softball and women's hoops.
