Better leagues?

I kinda took this from the 'Does the NBA Stink?' thread and expanded it. If the NBA is a worse product now than it was decades ago, what leagues ARE a better product in terms of gameplay across all the league's teams? The NFL's gotten faster, MLB seems to be more specialized, and I couldn't tell you about the NHL since I don't watch enough. But my opinion's just one of many, so, thoughts?

Expansion has watered down the talent at ALL levels.

The NBA doesn't do it for me most times, simply because you always have the same teams in the end winning NBA titles.

Lakers and Celtics combined for seven titles from 1980-1988.
    Pistons then went back-to-back.
    Bulls followed with a three-peat.
    Rockets then went back-to-back.
Bulls followed with a second three-peat.
Spurs and Lakers combined for six titles the next seven seasons.

At least with three champions the last three seasons, there's finally some hope that we can get a break from the monotony.
