I'd pay a lot of money to have full video of that Padres game. Surely somebody knows somebody at Turner Sports who could dig it up.

Can't have this list without Pete Rose and Bud Harrelson.

1992 or 1993. The old St Louis Arena. Goalies. Curtis Joseph vs Detroit's Tim Chevaldae at center ice.

The one fight I would love to see. 1977 or 1978. Royals-White Sox at Comiskey. Apparently, McRae took out someone at second base that lead to beanings. Ed Farmer hits Al Cowens, breaks his jaw I believe and all hell breaks loose. Can't find it anywhere.

    You shut your whore mouth!
The ages are what makes it great, but only one of the things. The headlock punch (Ryan absolutely drills Ventura at least once in the face), the spectacle of Ryan earning street cred at age 40-whatever, the sheer ridiculousness of a first-ballot hall of famer standing his ground and kicking ass, Ventura thinking about it for a half-second before rushing the mound and then regretting it for the next 25 years ... there's a reason it has endured.

I was talking about this with a friend a few weeks back, after Odor sucker-punched Bautista. You just don't see many punches land in baseball fights anymore. Probably because they lead to eight-game suspensions.

What was that fight between a catcher in the Wrigley bullpen and a fan/fans ... was it Russell Martin?

The somewhat forgotten prelude was dave Winfield charged Ryan in 1980 and he curled up in a fetal position to protect his arm. Took a lot of crap for being a coward. Vowed to never let that happen again. Seriously, he had how to do this in his mind for more than a decade.

Chad Kreuter. Apparently some Cub fan stole his hat.

Speaking of Cubs catchers, here's a great punch that landed:

That fight spawned a great joke:

Q: Who's the only player to ever get six hits off Nolan Ryan?

    A: Robin Ventura

Since we started with a NASCAR fight, here's the all-timer: Donnie Allison and Cale Yarbrough duked it out at the 1979 Daytona 500. Donnie's brother Bobby pulled over to join the fight.
