Here's another vote for "Hill Street"

I loved the song over the closing credits in 'KRP.

It's not on anymore, but love the theme to Third Watch.

Also, the song to the Sopranos, Woke up This Morning.

CSI, CSI Miami and CSI NY have great theme songs that are classics.

Sports Theme Song goes to the NFL on CBS. That song says power with a capital "P".

Whoever mentioned Simon & Simon deserves kudos.

Hated the Cheers song, probably more than the show itself. When I heard it on the Dr. Pepper commercial, I nearly threw something at the TV.

Quantum Leap always had a nice opening score.

More votes for Barney Miller, Good Times and the Jeffersons.

    A couple I haven't seen mentioned:

Green Acres: nice guitar line in that one.

    Brady Bunch.

Love, American Style: truer than the red, white and blue-hoo-hoo. Love American Sti-i-ial, that's me and you.

    Best: Sopranos, Cheers, Happy Days

Worst: Baywatch (well, if paying attention to the song was possible)

    Buck, two things:

    1) For Fresh Prince of Bel Air, they should have used Summertime as the theme song (one of my faves by the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff Townes).
    2) The only part of the Law and Order theme I like is the first second of the show when that eerie suspenseful sound comes on....not the actual theme songs to all the shows.

Thanks, Miss IJAG. How cool would it be if you pulled the handle to the first and out fell a box of DVDs? I'd buy it just for that.

I tried to find that ep on youtube...no such luck.

Sports-wise, the best music was back on NBC Sports NFL coverage, in the intro (MARINO. O'BRIEN etc.) they would play War, from the Rocky III (I think) soundtrack. Nothing like it.

I think you'd be hard pressed to top the Monday Night Fottball theme in the sports category.

And the CBS Sports Spectacular show was damn good, too: used a song from ELO, "Fire on High".

Absolutely. The opening guitar riff just screams late 70s.

Also, let me second "Rockford Files" and cast a vote for "Curb Your Enthusiasm."

By the way, here's a (fairly) recent pic of Soleil Moon Frye, AKA Punky Brewster:
