Yeah, he's the worst name dropped so far by a mile. And I don't even think he was the problem for post-Michael J. Fox Spin City.

Maybe this one will be even worse. I like the eclectic ones, and I think all the big names have been covered, so...

    Phil Hartman

SNL, News Radio, The Simpsons and Captain Carl on Pee Wee's Playhouse.

Nope, that's a significant improvement. Hartman was a comedy genius. He's the Nick Drake of this list.

Writer John Riggi has an impressive and diverse string of credits. He wrote many episodes of two of the greatest tv comedies of all-time: Larry Sanders and 30 Rock. Additionally, he is also a director, producer and actor. He even did at least one HBO stand-up comedy special.

My vote: Joshua Brand and John Falsey, who produced St. Elsewhere, I'll Fly Away, A Year In The Life, Northern Exposure and Amazing Stories and were writers on The White Shadow.

The more I mull this, the more I think Ken Levine has as impressive as resume as anyone.

    Writer/producer on:

    M*A*S*H*
    Cheers
    Frasier
    Wings
    Everybody Loves Raymond
    Dharma & Gregg
    Almost Perfect

Wrote two episodes of The Simpsons
    An episode of The Jeffersons

If you forgive him for After MASH, he wins.

I'll throw out a couple of names: Larry David and Dick Clark. Larry's resume isn't particularly long, but his work is pretty highly acclaimed. Most "Seinfeld" fans point to the last two seasons as a downturn for the show, which lines up with Larry leaving.
As for Dick, between "American Bandstand" and the New Year's Eve shows, he was a TV institution for decades.
