This thread reminds me of an idea I've had kicking around for a while. The Oscars has categories for top score and original song, but I think they should replace or add a category for "Best use of music in a film," which would include score, songs, etc.

Many films from Tarantino, Scorsese, PT Anderson, Spike Lee, etc. would be littered with Oscars.

I always thought How Deep Is Your Love and Night Fever were better tracks...

Gotta disagree on that - I'd go with Sammy Hagar's 'Winner Takes It All' from Over The Top.

As for the single best song, I'd say "Would" from Alice In Chains (Singles was the movie, IIRC).

My vote would go to "How Deep Is Your Love." Non-Bee Gees, though, probably goes to "K-Jee." The marching band arrangement we played all those years ago was pretty good ... if nothing else, one could see that sh_t-eating grin in the percussion line's eyes when this one rolled into their wheelhouse.

Might have to go with Many Rivers to Cross off that soundtrack instead.

    "I Believe I Can Fly"

Space Jam was and is a classic.

  9. Also Sprach Zarathustra -- 2001.
Neil's Philadelphia song is better than Bruce's.
It was "Jessica" in Field of Dreams.
    Also,
    "The Weight" -- Easy Rider.

A classic what? Waste of time?

  11. Not classic Bugs.
I liked his earlier, funny work.

"Wouldn't it be Nice?" by the Beach Boys, from "Shampoo." Perfect for that movie.

And "Everybody's Talkin'" by Nillson in "Midnight Cowboy."
