My aforementioned brother in the Air Force has been told that, should the unthinkable happen (and may it never happen, I pray), this would be played for him. He told me he kinda knew that might be the case.

    Anyway, those which hit me...

    - "Hear You Me" - Jimmy Eat World
    - "Magic" - Ben Folds Five
    - "Many Rivers to Cross" - Jimmy Cliff

Oh...and if I kick off before any of you? "The Weight" and "Always Look On the Bright Side of Life," please.

Great pick from Cider with Wish You Were Here. Saw Roger Waters play it a few months back. Fantastic.

Pallister, ditto on Tonight's the Night. I might toss Sink Hole into the DBT list. Someone dies.

Also, Frank, thank you. Great DDHNM video. I get goose bumps when I hear a late So Many Roads. He's Gone might work in this category …

Here's a few more I found that fit:

    Rocky Raccoon - The Beatles
The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald - Gordon Lightfooot
Houses on the Hill - Whiskeytown
Stack Shot Billy - The Black Keys
Naked As We Came - Iron & Wine
Cold Blows the Wind - Ween
Things The Grandchildren Should Know - Eels

This list is full of fail for not yet mentioning any one of 100 great country songs on the subject. No wonder the masses think journalists are out of touch. No, I don't like country either.

Excellent: "My Way".. I actually favor Elvis' version.

Worst: "Seasons in the Sun," Terry Jacks

Runnerup: "Billy, Don't Be a Hero"

"Edge of Seventeen" -- Stevie Nicks

She started writing it after John Lennon was killed. Later on, her uncle died.
