    Sirs, Madames,

Years back--college days, 84 I'm guessing--I entered a black rap-poetry contest, even though I'm the colour of the inside of an uncooked potato. I signed myself Shawon 57. (Dunston had just been drafted and I saw a Heinz ketchup bottle when I filled out the application.)

Somebody sent a friend of mine an email asking why he kept saying the same thing over and over in his blog. The last line of the email was "By the way, how may times do you find it appropriate to beat a dead horse?" It was signed Barbaro.
