Now he's a hero. It's not like he's slamming some motel desk clerk or stripper or escort or groupie. Mr. Patriot is going through the Victoria Secrets Catalog and ordering the models.

    Love Curtis Martin.

Carlos Delgado, although he used to fuck around a lot, I've always liked, too.

Derrick Brooks seems solid, lots of genuine charitable work.

I haven't heard much bad said about Steve Nash.

And to complete the big four sports, I'll go with Curtis Joseph, who could have come out a trainwreck, given his early history.

Andre Agassi -- after he grew out of his acid-wash phase.

    Barry Sanders?

  5. Mookie Wilson. Short on substance in an interview, though.

I'm a Mets fan, so I hope this doesn't come off biased. I don't think he's got enough time under his belt or as many highlights packed on his resume -- nor is he the best player yet -- but I've heard some remarkable things about David Wright.

When Wright was with the Double-A Binghamton Mets at 20 and 21, he used to go to local elementary schools and sign autographs and talk to the kids for hours. I never heard anything about other players on that team doing things like that, although he was the best player on the team, so he probably got more recognition. And Wright seems like a standup guy in interviews, too.

Are there better candidates, absolutely. But he's part of a young crop who could rival those before him.

He was an amazing guy. He took time out of his schedule to let me interview him for my high school paper awhile back, and he was great with the entire thing. He told me any story I wanted to hear and really made me feel legit back then. He was unbelievably kind to everybody. There will never be another as good as he was.

  9. I'm pretty sure that's what the <----- was for, but I could be wrong.

My votes would have to go to 1) Khalil Greene and 2) LaDainian Tomlinson

  10. Jones beat me on Derrick Brooks.

The only correct answer but since this is a message board we can hazard some guesses I suppose. A few that come to mind in baseball: Torii Hunter, Derrek Lee, Tom Glavine, Marquis Grissom, Jason Varitek, Carlos Delgado, Jamie Moyer, Jimmy Rollins. Plenty more, too ...

Off the field, I've only heard the nicest words about Sean Casey, Marvin Harrison, Steve Nash and Manning.
