Best Movie Ending of All-Time?

The look inside the incinerator at the end of Citizen Kane. (Question for fellow Welles fan Alma: didn't you think Scorsese was quoting the ending of The Third Man near the end of The Departed?)

And among all these journalists, does anyone want to wrestle with the philosophy that closes The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance?

  2. IMO, The Usual Suspects ends this thread, but there are some gems in here. To me, Shawshank may be the best movie of all time. But I was surprised and happy to see someone say Major League. Really good movie, for what it was. And to the comment that said they wish it was more clear that Creed won the fight at the end of Rocky1, I think that was the point. Balboa accomplished what he wanted. The outcome was as much an afterthought to him as it was to the viewers. Until, of course, they wanted a sequel. :)

Those were the first two I thought of.

    Se7en and Usual Suspects.

I'm not sure it goes into the "best ever" list, but the end of Iron Man was really, really cool...

I will say that I enjoyed the ending of The Bourne Ultimatum.

"However, after a three day search, Webb's body has yet to be found."

Not quite Shawshank, but I did like it a lot.

My favorite ending is The Sting.

The one where he shoots the guy as he falls from the second floor was amazing as well.

I still love the ending of 50 First Dates. And the ending of Gettysburg.

Is there a reference to ANYTHING here, prior to The Graduate?

    Oh.

Sweet Jesus, Casablanca's top five, at WORST.

  10. You know, I'm sure I'll get some heat for this, but the final scene of The Passion of the Christ is pretty powerful.
After all that torture and His death, you get the shot of Him walking out of the tomb and into the sunlight.

Don't believe you'll get a lick of heat for that, monsieur.
