From the NYT re: Schwimmer's direction on Fault Lines ...

I saw the play. Agree with most of the review. Loved the dynamic ending.

Episodes might be the most critically acclaimed thing any of them have done postFriends. But it's hard to get rid of the stench from Joey.

Freaks and Geeks holds its own as an ensemble with MTM, West Wing, etc. It's even more impressive when you consider how young and inexperienced the cast was.

    No. 1 'Seinfeld'
    No. 2 'Cheers'

Years later, and I still loathe 'Friends' and 'West Wing.'

Another vote for Hill Street Blues.

I too am forever underwhelmed by Friends.

Friends had an attractive, likable cast and was good for a few laughs. It was a decent show and it's pretty easy to understand why it was a huge hit.

But it also ended its run shortly before the golden era of television began and doesn't hold up compared to a long list of shows that came after.

Big Bang Theory is Friends but with nerds and this generation's Aniston.

How many failed shows has Perry been on since Friends? I can think of Studio 60, Mr. Sunshine and the one about him and the dead wife. I think he also had a pilot that wasn't picked up.

I don't know about golden age of television. It was a sitcom, and that genre has been dreadful 10-15 years at least.

Arrested Development, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The Office, Parks & Rec, Community, 30 Rock, Malcolm in the Middle, Scrubs, Curb Your Enthusiasm, Veep are all brilliant shows that followed Friends. There's more, that's just of the top of my head.
