    From the "otherwise a wide spot in the road" perspective, Starkville has to take the case. I didn't see much ville. They should just call it Stark.

    Clemson is pretty high in that category, too. Not much town there. As Lewis Grizzard once said, It's Auburn, with a lake.

    Well if I have to include places that would get along fine without the colleges there (which doesn't exactly make them college towns does it?) I have to include Columbia SC.  At least the Five Points area.

    Least favorite college towns:
    Greenville NC -- Not totally a true college town anyway
    Statesboro GA -- the town should reflect a college of 15,000 and it doesn't
    Radford VA -- It's a hopping place at 3 p.m. on Friday when everyone is leaving

    Ogre, all those bars are what make Tempe great. Send your daughter there; make some frat boy happy.
