Basketball stats/scoring questions

    If the shot was not in desperation and not from within normal shooting distance (within 6 or so feet of the 3-point line is what I use unless one player has outstanding range), then dead-ball rebound. Since dead-ball rebounds don't factor into total averages, I don't think it matter which team you give the board too (I'd assume defensive team).

    If the shot was definitely out of normal shooting range and was seen as a desperation shot, it does NOT count as an attempt according to the NCAA scoring PDF.
