So, any other Dodgers or Yankees fans hoping for the first LA-NY fall classic in 25 years?

    That would be sweet.

Man, the Fathers have more LOBs than a tennis match at Roland Garros.

The Padres should win this series in 5, but it's a tough matchup. The Cards have the best two players -- by a huge margin -- and Carpenter can pitch twice in the first four games.

The schedule screws someone every season. This season it's the Padres.

Oldest ever to hit 2 homers in one playoff game.

Gotta give La Russa credit, though.

Also credit the Astros, who would have played today had they won Sunday in part because La Russa sat Carpenter that day. If the Astros had not lost ...

    La Russa played the odds.

I mean, Chris Sampson is going to beat John Smoltz in a playoff setting?

I know that he gets almost as much hate as I do around here, but La Russa may get his team to the NLCS simply because of that one move.

By swining at the first pitch ... down and away... and hitting a weak fly ball to left field.

I'll take a "softie" who can win batting titles as a catcher, as opposed to some scrub who hits .250 and strikes out a ton because it's acceptable for catchers to do so.
