Because it's forced. You don't need to be cute with it. Just say what it is. The readers will appreciate it.

Thinking that you have to come up with some fancy name when you don't is not good. Fight the urge. 60% of the readers will look at it and say, "Why didn't he just call it BASEBALL?"

    MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL

    That's what we use.

We spell out NBA and NHL on our page toppers, too.

Like it or not, it's correct.

So nobody can rip us on that angle.
Maybe that's the plan now: Avoid anything that can be ripped.
Who knows, I'm a grunt from Jersey.

Seconded. Anything that's "catchy" is too cute by half.

Until that, I was curious to see your NASCAR page topper.

I would save terms like "INSIDE BASEBALL" or other such for an extra page where you might run features and analysis, etc. If it's the run-of-the-mill daily box scores, standings, roundups, etc., I'd just use the name of the sport. No point getting fancy on something you'll be doing every single day for six months.

This was actually in big font across the top, not just a small subhead. I decided to stick with "Daily Baseball Report." I'm submitting my other choice for a possible name for a weekly youth baseball page this summer.
