Am willing to bet none of you knew him. And that's cool.
I knew him most of my life. He's the ad writer for the immortal "Baseball, Hot Dogs, Apple Pie and Chevrolet" commercial for Campbell-Ewald in the mid-70s.
I went to grade school and high school with his son, now a Detroit cop who I lost touch with for years until Facebook. He went to high school with my dad in the late 40s.
Havent seen him in years, but he was part of the formative years -- going to Olympia Stadium to see the sucky ass Red Wings of the early and mid-70s. I still remember going to a Detroit-Philly game in 72...
Anyway, it's a nostalgic trip down memory lane for Slappy tonight for a good friend's father.
No need for perfunctory RIPs; just smile if you remember the commercial.
