Baseball Hall of Fame Veterans

    I generally try not to get too upset about Hall of Fame selections, but when they vote in guys who died in 1932 (Dreyfuss), 1969 (Southworth) and 1979 (O'Malley) over still living and deserving guys like Ron Santo, it always burns me up.

    Yes, Dreyfuss, Southworth and O'Malley are deserving, and have been for years. But why not take care to induct guys while they're still alive and can enjoy it? Did they learn nothing from Buck O'Neil? (Though that was a different panel of electors).

    And as much as he deserves it, Marvin Miller's not getting in as long as he and/or the guys he once sat across the negotiating table from are still alive ...

    I don't get too antsy about most people outside of politics, but Bowie was a very, very special case.
