Baseball Coverage: What Would You Do?

Covered an independent ball game on the road today. Starting pitcher goes seven innings, gives up three hits and no runs. He's back after injury.

The center fielder goes four for five with two doubles, a homer, a single, a walk and four RBIs. He's on probation after a drunken incident last fall.

Space is tight, very tight. The team plays again Tuesday, so there is a chance for an advance story. Who do you focus on for Monday's edition? And why?

    I'm torn.

Ask the CF if he's going out for a few drinks to celebrate?

I'd do the gamer on the pitcher back from injury and the advance on the CF. Since the pitcher's next outing won't be for five days, it's more timely.

CF will be playing Tuesday, I'm assuming, so an advance on him would be a good read before folks head to the park.

This is what I chose. Gamer with the focus being feature-ish on the pitcher. I'll do a bigger, better piece on the CF tomorrow for Tuesday's advance.

Great minds think alike. Good luck with the feature.

Aren't all independent players on some sort of probation?

I'd look for a Roger Clemens tie to the story. :)

He's gotta be doing roids, man. Aren't they all?

Seriously, good luck with the feature.
