Disciplined in house. Matt Millen is amazing...

A Detroit Lions assistant coach was arrested twice in the last two weeks, once for allegedly driving drunk and once for indecent and obscene conduct, the Free Press has learned.

In the latter incident, a Dearborn police ticket describes the coach as “driving on public street without any clothes on. (NUDE).”

Joe Cullen, whom first-year head coach Rod Marinelli hired from the University of Illinois, coaches the defensive line. Cullen, 38, posted bond in both misdemeanor cases and was still coaching the Lions at practice Wednesday.

He must be the one who shows the defenders how to strip the football.

Less public embare-ass-ment than this got Gary Moeller fired from Michigan.
This guy gets popped not once, but twice and gets "handled in house..."
    Wow.

This is another George O'Leary situation.

Cullen's bio on the Lions' web site does not indicate that he ever coached at Mississippi.

Of course, a cursory Google search of the name "joe cullen" turns up the drunk driving case, and the resultant lawsuit, at Result #12.

Cullen was hired by Marinelli, Matt Millen's (third) hand-picked choice as head coach.

Millen was the guy who was shocked, deeply shocked, to find out that Charles Rogers was a recreational drug user and had a nonexistent work ethic, although you couldn't pick up a paper in Michigan or go on the Internet in fall 2002 and without being innundated with abundant evidence to exactly those facts.

Who is ultimately responsible for background checks of everyone hired by the organization? Why, the President and Chief Operating Officer, of course. Matt Millen.

I mean, if you're too stupid to do it yourself (I have doubts Millen has the brainpower in his own right not to put his underwear on backwards less than four times a week), HIRE SOMEBODY ELSE TO DO IT.

That's out of bounds. You have to be a bright boy to go to Penn State. The underwear thing, I'm told, is a 200-level class.
