Barbaro = load of crap

Public money was spent on Barbaro's care?
Where'd that come from?

 

Again, you can't artificially inseminate to get a qualified thoroughbred. They have to do it like they do on the Discovery Channel.

 

Is it the New York Post again (or the like) trying to drum up a nonexistent controversy?

 

What makes anyone think tax dollars were spent on Barbaro's care?
The owners are extremely wealthy and probably had some veterinary insurance, as well. The hospital is part of the University of Pennsylvania, a private, very well-funded institution that receives no public money.
To say the money spent on Barbaro's care could have been better spent elsewhere is beyond absurd...it is stupidity of the highest order.

And would some lesser thoroughbred have recieved the same treatment? Well, if his owners could afford it and wanted to do it, why not?

 

I hadn't heard of Barbaro's treatment being paid for with any public money before. It doesn't seem to make any sense or seem very likely.
There was some $1.2 million donated to the Barbaro Fund, but those were private donations.
I don't understand the grumbling about this.
If you're not interested in Barbaro and you don't think your readers are interested in Barbaro, don't run it.

 

I say this is a chance to get a horse mugshot in the paper.
