Unless there is some sordid tale of him blowing through more than a billion dollars on top of all of this. ... his net worth was easily still more than half a billion dollars, perhaps much more. Even with the hit to his net worth he likely has taken over the last few years. I can't imagine his wife and kids are going to be hurting for money and need a life insurance payout.

I don't know about other states, but in Pennsylvania the insurance companies will pay a death benefit on a suicide if the policy has been in effect for two years or more.

Thieving corporate shitbag refuses to face the music and takes the easy way out. I've seen this story before.

Suicide is too good for him.

One getting raped in prison would have satisfied some here.

Good straw man there ... but no one is getting prison raped in a Club Fed.

Too bad that he couldn't be punished for his crimes? Sure. No one mentioned prison rape.

Making the determination to drive yourself into a wall is punishment. Its a fucking rotten punishment. He was punished. And he saved the government millions in a trial. This is a fucking win.

If he'd been convicted, how long a prison sentence would he have had? A few years?

There's a history of top financier suicides going back well into the 19th century, and there's one thing they have in common. What was known at the time of death was only the tip of the iceberg. If the indictment was all that was on McClendon's plate, he'd have hired top shelf lawyers and have them delay and fought the case until it got pleaded down to jaywalking. There's much, much more here that will come to light, count on it.
Bad (or great, depending on your point of view) day to be on the Oklahoma City city desk.
