Attendance figures in the story

    There was an excellent story on attendance and all the made-up numbers in the San Diego Union-Tribune a year or so ago. Have no idea if it's archived by the paper.
    I always throw in announced attendance (maybe the better term is tickets distributed), then hazard a guess as to the real attendance if the announced number seems way off.

    Standard Skip Caray line: ``They announced the crowd as 32,000, but about 20,000 of them came dressed as empty seats.''
